What’s In CBD? CBD Nutrients Explained

CBD is best known for its health benefits and the balancing, calming effect it has on your mental state. But did you know it’s also full of essential nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and dietary nutrients?

Here’s what you need to know about CBD:

CBD is a plant chemical found in hemp.

CBD is not psychoactive. It won’t make you high or register on a drug test.

CBD feeds your body’s main control system (Endocannabinoid System) the specific nutrients (cannabinoids) that all your systems need in order to stay healthy and balanced. This helps keep your body and mind in homeostasis: the optimal state of health and high performance.

CBD has no harmful effects or toxic dose. It can be safely used by humans and animals to boost physical and mental health.

Keep in mind, not all CBD products should be trusted. Depending on where you’re getting your CBD from, the quality and nutrients can differ depending on their growing and extraction methods, manufacturing, and testing.

Buuuut, we gotta start somewhere, right? This article will break down what nutrients are in CBD, and what each nutrient does for you.

You know we got the good stuff, and you can trust that our products are the best of the best -- guaranteed.

Let’s get into it…

EFAS (Essential Fatty Acids)

CBD is rich in Essential Fatty Acids.

Where most fats just give you fuel, essential fatty acids (EFAs) are fats that also provide nutrition to your body. The two EFAs considered essential for humans are omega-3 and omega-6. Our Full-Spectrum CBD oil is a great source of both.

The body doesn’t produce EFAs on its own, categorizing them as essential nutrients. Even though it’s recommended that you consume EFAs in a ratio of 1 part omega-3 to 3 parts omega-6, the average American diet includes them in about a 1:20 ratio.

Hemp, and CBD oil made from hemp, have the optimal 1:3 ratio of omega-3 to omega-6. 100 grams of CBD oil has 9 grams of omega-3 and 28 grams of omega-6.

BENEFITS OF EFAS:

  • Help transport cholesterol through your veins and break it down when it’s no longer needed

  • Raise “good” HDL cholesterol levels

  • Regulate skin oil production to keep your skin hydrated

  • Prevent acne and help delay skin aging

  • Limit inflammation in skin layers

  • Prevent harmful blood clots

  • Lower high blood pressure

VITAMIN A

Vitamin A is a powerful antioxidant. It combats cell damage and promotes soft tissue and skeletal tissue growth, making it essential for keeping your eyes and skin healthy.

It also helps keep your heart, kidneys, and lungs working their best.

VITAMIN D

Vitamin D improves calcium absorption, keeping your bones strong and protecting you from osteoporosis. It also reduces inflammation and supports your immune system.

Even though it’s hard to get vitamin D from your regular diet, your body can produce it when ultraviolet rays hit your skin. If you’re not getting a lot of direct sunlight, though, you should probably take a supplement.

CBD oil made from shelled hemp seeds has about 10mcg per 100g, while full-spectrum CBD oil may contain slightly more.

VITAMIN E

Vitamin E helps protect you from cell damage that can cause heart disease and many kinds of cancer. It can also combat the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation, pollution, and secondhand smoke.

Make sure you’re also eating plenty of foods rich in vitamin E, like nuts and seeds, as the Recommended Daily Allowance of vitamin E is about 30mcg. 100g of CBD only contains about 5% of the RDA.

B-COMPLEX VITAMINS

There are a whole bunch of different B vitamins, and although they’re chemically different from each other, they are often found in the same foods. Great sources of B-complex vitamins include meat, legumes, whole grains, and bananas.

B vitamins help you keep your energy levels up and are important for cell metabolism. They can also ward off infections and promote a healthy brain and nervous system.

100g of Full-Spectrum CBD oil contains small amounts of B1, B2, B3, B6, and B12.

IRON

Iron is an essential mineral needed to make the red blood cells that transport oxygen, keeping you alive and energetic. It also helps remove carbon dioxide from your bloodstream.

Full-Spectrum CBD oil contains small amounts of iron. In order to get all the iron your body needs, it’s important to make sure you’re getting iron-rich foods in your daily diet, such as spinach or other leafy greens, beans, and red meat.

100g of Full-Spectrum CBD oil contains small amounts of B1, B2, B3, B6, and B12.

ZINC

Zinc supports your immune system and your genes. It helps combat viruses and reduce DNA damage. The recommended daily intake is about 10mg, which a daily dose of Full-Spectrum CBD oil may contain.

POTASSIUM

Potassium helps regulate your blood pressure and keeps your muscles healthy. There is a small amount found in CBD oil.

CALCIUM

Even though there is only a very small amount of calcium found in CBD oil, CBD plays its role in your calcium levels in other ways. For example, it can target the TRPV1 receptors in your cells to decrease or increase calcium levels as needed.

MANGANESE

In order to produce enzymes and regulate blood sugar levels, your body needs small amounts of manganese. There are small amounts in CBD oil, but your main manganese intake should come from your diet. You can find it in foods like nuts, whole grains, and leafy vegetables.

MAGNESIUM

Another essential mineral found in Full-Spectrum CBD is Magnesium. Magnesium helps regulate your cortisol, the body’s stress hormone. It helps relax muscles and reduce inflammation.

FLAVONOIDS

The flavonoids family are organic compounds found in plants. As their name suggests, some provide the flavor in fruits and flowers, while others create the beautiful, vibrant colors. Some simply have no color or flavor and just act as nutrients.

Flavonoids help protect you from inflammation, tumors, and fungi. The trichomes, or little crystal-like follicles on the hemp plant are rich in flavonoids.

TERPENES AND TERPENOIDS

Terpenes are chemical compounds made by plants that contribute to the plant’s aroma and flavor. Many terpenes have health benefits, and they form part of the CBD’s “entourage effect.” The terpenoids in CBD oil support its anti-anxiety, anti-inflammatory, and anti-viral properties.
